At Aspect Media, we’re afforded the opportunity to work alongside some very special organisations which work tirelessly to make a positive, unselfish contribution to society.
One of these is the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI) - a charitable organisation which seeks to promote all aspects of the health and well-being of men and boys on the island of Ireland through research, education, training, health initiatives, networking, campaigning and advocacy.
Recently, we worked alongside MHFI to design and print some sensitive and important corporate publications, detailing the increased suicide rate among middle-aged men in Ireland. We were shocked to learn that this was the highest suicide rate of all age cohorts, while self-harm rates were also at an all-time high.
Throughout the duration of the graphic design concept process, MHFI educated our creative team about the startling statistics and key dynamics around the increased suicide rate, such as family history, chronic pain, mental disorders, alcohol and substance misuse, hopelessness and job or monetary loss.
Consequently, we were able to source hundreds of appropriate stock images and to develop a series of design concepts which served to communicate the subject matter. Following the supply of initial proofs, feedback was provided, amendments were actioned, and we printed a beautiful A4 perfect bound report alongside a separate, concise summary document. These were, subsequently, launched at the high profile ‘Men in the Middle’ Men’s Health Symposium in Dublin on Thursday 15th March 2018.
This was a hard-hitting subject matter for our team and one which has shocked, saddened and educated us in equal measure.
